Mechanics Speak Out
Independent repair shop owners explain why the Right-to-Repair legislation isn't needed and won't help independent mechanics.
Michael Balise, vice president of Balise Motor Sales Company, recently expressed his concern that "Right to Repair" legislation would harm the company's more than 600 employees in the Greater Springfield area and the community they serve.
In a piece published on MassLive.com, Balise said:
Read MoreTime after time, legislators and community members have taken a close enough look at this bill to learn the truth: that it is completely unnecessary and will only cause harm to businesses and consumers. In their latest attempt to break through car manufacturers’ intellectual property protections, the aftermarket parts makers are trying to pass this legislation in our state. Having been a part of the Greater Springfield community for almost a century, grown our business here, created jobs, and supported our local community, it would be especially troubling to see Massachusetts be the first state to pass such an anti-business, anti-jobs bill.
